Seekonk, MA - 18 year old young gun Andy Seuss of Hampstead, NH captured his first True Value Modified Racing Series win this past weekend at Seekonk Speedway. The One Stop Toy Shop number 70 was the car to beat at Seekonk Speedways D.A.V. Memorial race. Seuss who had started on the outside pole took control on lap seventeen and never looked back as he lapped all but eight cars in the twenty five car field.

Fans filled the stands at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, MA on Saturday, October 1, 2005 as twenty-nine cars attempted to qualify for the 100 lap main event to take place the following day. Three fast paced qualifiers had top contenders battling to the front of the field to make the Sunday show. Last years DAV winner Les Hinckley secured the pole position winning qualifier number 1 followed by Seuss taking the outside spot. Veteran driver Roger Raymond won the third heat to start in 100 lap feature in the third spot. Seekonk Speedways six time track champion Vinnie Annarummopro started 17th in the field for his first modified feature event and had an impressive 12th place finish.

On Sunday, October 2nd the field was lead by Hinckley and Seuss out of turn four as flagman John Spence Jr. threw the initial green. Hinckley and Seuss battled side by side with Hinckley prevailing to take over and lead but Seuss made his move on lap twelve only to be drawn back by a caution that came out for cars spinning in turns three and four putting Hinckley back in the top spot for the restart. The 69 of Jimmy Dolan broke the right front sending him spinning while Peter Daniels in the 76 and rookie Mike Douglas Jr. in the 3 spun as well to avoid damage to their cars. Seuss took over the lead on lap seventeen from Hinckley and began to pull away from the field. The second caution of the race came out on lap twenty-five for a three car spin in turn four. Those involved were the 38 of Bill Goodrow, Chris Wenzel in the 83 and Louie Mechalides in the 47. The restart had Seuss on the point being challenged by Hinckley and in the third spot the 72 of Jimmy Kuhn. Lap thirty Seuss continued to stay out in front with a new challenger on the gain. Kirk Alexander started in the twenty-fourth spot made his way to second place position with his sites on capturing his twelfth win of the season. Alexander's opportunity came on lap thirty-eight when the final caution of the night came out for the 35 of Dale Evonsion spinning. Seuss and Alexander battled neck and neck but Seuss remained out front restart and began to pull away from the field. He continued to give himself a safe distance between himself and Alexande and Seuss cashed in on the Black Mountain and Painting 1/2 way bonus of $100 for leading at the half way mark. While Seuss remained out front local favorite Dave Bergman in the Nils Lindstedt owned number 10 was all over Alexander attempting to take away the second spot. Bergman started in the twelfth position and had made his way to front early on in the one hundred lap event.

By lap eighty five the young Seuss was burning the track up as 3/4 of the field was put down a lap leaving only eight cars remaining on the lead lap for the final laps. At thte drop of the checkered flag Seuss had a ten car lead over Alexander as he captured his first True Value Modified Racing Series feature win. Alexander placed second followed by Dave Bergman. Jimmy Kuhn placed fourth in the 72 car while Ascutney's Dwight Jarvis rounded out the top five. Peter Daniels who remains second in the points chase finished sixth and now sits 24 points behind Alexander with one race remaining in the 2005 season.

The True Value Modified Racing Series closes out the 2005 season at Lee USA Speedway for Oktoberfest 2005. The modifieds will go head to head for 100 laps of ground pounding action. For more information on the season finale visit their site at www.modifiedracingseries.com.
